Pedestrian struck downtown

Police are seeking witnesses to a collision in downtown Vernon in which a senior was struck.

Vernon RCMP responded to the scene about 4:20 p.m. Saturday on the 3330 block of 30th Avenue.

Officers arrived to find a 74-year-old woman being treated by paramedics.

Preliminary findings suggest the pickup struck sideswiped two parked vehicles, one of which the victim was standing near when she was struck, says Vernon RCMP spokesperson Cost. Chris Terleski.

The driver remained at the scene and is co-operating with investigators.

The victim was rushed to hospital by ambulance with life-threatening injuries.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171 and quote file 2021-22889.
