Man with gun arrested

A local man was arrested after he was found with a gun in downtown Kamloops on Tuesday.

Police said they received a report of a man with a gun in a parking lot on Columbia Street in the afternoon.

RCMP said the man left the scene but he was later located in his vehicle.

“A responding officer located the described vehicle in the parking lot, after it was reported as leaving,” said Cst. Crystal Evelyn, a Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. “Upon further investigation, police arrested a man and seized items, including a firearm.”

Anthony Ross Chambers, 43, has been charged for both possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and careless use of a firearm.

RCMP said Chambers was held for court and has now been released. His next court appearance will be Dec. 16.
