Reality TV series films episode in North Okanagan

Back Road Truckers in town

Gena Barzan can now add reality TV star to an already lengthy resume.

Barzan is known for her dedication in helping people and their animals during times of crisis.

From fires to floods, Barzan has spent countless hours helping those in need and now she will be on an episode Back Road Truckers.

Barzan, who also operates the Animal Auxiliary Thrift Store in Vernon, said the crew picked up a two-ton piece of equipment Barzan had on a North Okanagan property.

And it was all captured on film.

Barzan said she had plans to lease a piece of property where she hoped to temporarily house animals during a disaster, but the landowner put the kibosh on the idea.

Barzan sold the solid steel deck, that measures 16 feet long by six feet wide and weighs more than 4,000 pounds, and Back Road Truckers asked if they could film it being loaded and removed.

“They are a really nice bunch of guys,” she said of the reality show stars and crew.

The gist of the episode will be the team making their way to the deck along snowy roads as well as the task of actually loading the deck onto a big rig.

Back Road Truckers features independent truckers who will haul anything, anywhere, at any time.

This unscripted series follows two rival families and their crews as they tackle some of the most harrowing roads and dangerous off-road locations of BC in their custom 'monster' trucks.
