B.C. had 375 new COVID-19 cases, seven deaths, in past 24 hours

375 new cases, seven deaths

In the past 24 hours, 375 British Columbians tested positive for COVID-19, including 69 Interior residents.

The new cases bring B.C.’s total since the pandemic began to 218,801 cases, and 2,936 remain active. Active cases increased by 47 since Tuesday.

Of these, 301 people are hospitalized with the disease, an increase of one, and 98 people are being treated in the ICU.

There are currently 537 active cases within Interior Health. Fifty-three Interior residents are hospitalized with the virus, including 29 who are in critical care.

After no new COVID deaths were reported Tuesday, another seven new COVID deaths have been reported throughout B.C. in the past 24 hours. Three deaths occurred in both the Fraser Health and Island Health regions, while one occurred in the Vancouver Coastal Health region. To date, 2,340 British Columbians have died after contracting COVID-19.

There has been no new healthcare facility outbreaks in B.C. and there remains five active outbreaks among care homes, assisted living facilities and hospitals.

In the past 24 hours, 21,690 doses of the vaccine were administered in B.C. As of Wednesday, 84.8% of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 81.7% have received their second dose.

The new/active cases include:

  • 98 new cases in Fraser Health – Total active cases: 994
  • 70 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health — Total active cases: 476
  • 69 new cases in Interior Health — Total active cases: 537
  • 62 new cases in Northern Health — Total active cases: 360
  • 76 new cases in Island Health — Total active cases: 569

From Nov. 23-29, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 58.2% of cases and from Nov. 16-29, they accounted for 68.1% of hospitalizations.

  • Partially vaccinated: 95 (3.9%)
  • Fully vaccinated: 1,009 (41.8%)

Past two weeks cases hospitalized (Nov. 16-29) – Total 267

  • Not vaccinated: 171 (64.0%)
  • Partially vaccinated: 11 (4.1%)
  • Fully vaccinated: 85 (31.8%)

Past week, cases per 100,000 population after adjusting for age (Nov. 23-29)

  • Not vaccinated: 180.6
  • Partially vaccinated: 43.6
  • Fully vaccinated: 22.6

Past two weeks, cases hospitalized per 100,000 population after adjusting for age (Nov. 16-29)
