Surrey crash claims a life

A crash claimed the life of one person in Surrey overnight.

RCMP remain on the scene in the South Surrey area.

About 11:30 p.m., police responded to the two-vehicle collision on the 18100 block of 16th Avenue in which an occupant may have been ejected.

Paramedics and firefighters provided medical treatment to one of the drivers, but they succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased at scene, police say.

A second victim was taken hospital in serious condition.

The Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service are investigating the incident.

Traffic remains closed on 16th Avenue between 176th Street and 184th Street, and the public is asked to avoid the area.
