Kelowna RCMP recover $20K in stolen audio gear, seize handgun

Stolen audio gear recovered

The Kelowna RCMP says they recovered two handguns and $20,000 worth of stolen audio equipment after an investigation earlier this month.

The audio equipment was stolen during a break-and-enter at a construction site on Nov. 5. After an investigation, officers were able to identify a suspect and executed a search warrant on Nov. 18 at a home in the 1300 block of Gordon Drive.

The 45-year-old unnamed male suspect was arrested. A search of the home found additional stolen audio equipment and two handguns.

“With the diligent work of the victim to locate their property, the RCMP members were able to identify the suspect and a location where the property would be located,” said Sgt. Desmond Kiehlbauch of the Kelowna RCMP's Target Team.

“This investigation demonstrated that the Kelowna RCMP is able to use a variety of techniques to gather evidence and return property to victims of crime.”

The investigation is on-going and 16 charges related to stolen property, firearms and the Motor Vehicle Act are being recommended to prosecutors.
