11 alcohol-related driving prohibitions issued in Vernon between Friday and Monday

11 drunks off the road

Vernon RCMP were kept busy with impaired drivers over the weekend.

No less than 11 alcohol-related driving prohibitions were issued to motorists between noon Friday and 4 a.m. Monday.

Eight drivers were served 90-day prohibitions and 30-day vehicle impounds, while three were issued lesser alcohol-related prohibitions.

"Impaired driving continues to be a concern on our roads," says Vernon RCMP spokesperson Const. Chris Terleski.

"The consequences of impaired driving can be deadly. Whether by alcohol or drug, if you choose to drive while impaired, you are not only putting yourself at risk, but others as well."

Police encourage the public to report suspected impaired drivers.

Pull over, call 911 and note the licence plate number, make and model of the vehicle, description of the driver, location and direction of travel.
