Gabriel Szturc scored just six seconds into the game in Kelowna's 4-1 win over Prince George

Rockets record night

The Kelowna Rockets have been guilty of some very slow starts as of late.

That was not the case Saturday night, in fact, fans arriving late to Prospera Place missed the record-setting start.

Rookie Gabriel Szturc established a club record scoring six seconds in, setting the table for a 4-1 victory over the visiting Prince George Cougars.

The Cougars won the opening draw, but Szturc stole the puck outside the blueline and rifled a shot over the glove of startled goaltender Tyler Brennan.

The goal was just one second off the league record. The Rockets have scored a goal quicker, but Ryan Wade's tally 25 years ago against the same Cougars came four seconds into the second period.

Nolan Flamand doubled the lead five minutes later when he batted a bouncing puck past Brennan after another turnover.

Colton Dach made it 3-0 19 seconds later, backhanding a rebound for his eighth of the season.

Prince George got one back on a power play before the period ended but Tyson Feist got that one back with a one-timer from the top of the left faceoff circle.

Talyn Boyko turned away 34 shots, including a glove safe on a third period penalty shot to earn wins on back-to-back nights.

He was also named first star in both games.

The Rockets, winners of two in a row will host Vancouver Wednesday before hitting the road for their final three road games before the holiday break.
