A church in Kelowna says it was inundated with volunteers eager to help sort donations for flood victims.

Willow Park Church received hundreds of bags full of donations from the community, filling some rooms of the church floor to ceiling. After putting out a call for help sorting the donations on Monday, they received an equally large response.

"It feels impossible to be able to put a number on it because we have literally got hundreds of bags of donations and From Friday, Saturday, Sunday it was an endless stream of community cars arriving here and dropping off."

"The devotion and the commitment and the wonder of our community are quite remarkable. It's a good problem to have said," lead pastor Phill Collins said.

"We’ve been inundated with offers of support from the local community - just crazy. How wonderful that people are pulling together from all walks of life," said communications director Ian Richardson.

As of Tuesday morning, the church had over 200 volunteers lending a hand.

Willow Park has partnered with the Salvation Army in Kelowna and West Kelowna to manage donations.

Evacuees are welcome to stop by the church to get items every day from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The church is no longer accepting donations, but if you have a few items you would like to donate, you can do so at the Salvation Army in Westbank and Rutland.
