Racquetball tournament held in The Roster in Vernon this weekend

'Racqueteers' in Vernon

For the first time in almost two years, a tournament is being held in Vernon, giving a couple dozen racquetball players a glimpse of what normal used to be.

Bob Wolf organized the event that is being held at The Roster this weekend.

“It's probably the first one that is being held in BC since COVID took over our world,” Wolf said.

Local players squared off against some from the Lower Mainland and one even travelled from Halifax to take part.

“Everyone that is here is excited to be here and I'm just excited that they were able to come,” said Wolf as he stood in front of two tables filled with prizes.

And of course, COVID rules were in place for the event.

Spectators wore masks as did athletes when they were not in the courts.

Wolf said all of the players knew they had to be double vaccinated, so “all of these players and their spouses are all double vaccinated. They are just happy to be here.”

The finals for the two-day event take place Sunday.
