We hit the street to see if vaccine passports working smoothly in the Okanagan

Vax pass working for you?

B.C.'s digital vaccine passports have been mandatory for a week now after a grace period allowing the public to show just their vaccine card.

But, not everyone may have had the need to use one yet, or maybe they just haven't downloaded the QR code yet.

The passes became mandatory on Sept. 27 to dine in at restaurants and attend indoor recreational events.

The province says three tickets have been handed out since the passports' introduction

The Ministry of Public Safety says two of the tickets were handed out for violating the health order on food and liquor serving, and the other ticket was given to an owner who didn't follow the rules on gatherings.

The process seemed to be working smoothly at restaurants in Vernon over the weekend.

However, some patrons were turned away for not having passes, and others scrambled to tap on their phones and download the QR codes so they could eat out.

We hit the street to see if using the passports has worked well for others.
