Penticton Vees will honour history of Penticton Knights team at home opener this season

Vees honour 'Knights' past

The Penticton Vees are embracing nostalgia for their season home-opener this October, throwing it back to the years they were known as the Penticton Knights.

Dubbed "A Knight to Remember," the opening match against the Vernon Vipers Oct. 8 at the South Okanagan Events Centre will honour the 35th anniversary of the 1986 Centennial Cup champions, the Knights.

The 1985/86 team will be honoured as the 2021/22 Vees don a special Knights jersey, replicas of what the team wore in that fabled championship season.

Players from the season will be in attendance, as well as head coach Rick Kozuback. A special 35th anniversary video will be played in the stadium, and a ceremonial puck drop will take place at centre ice before the game.

Knights shirts will be on sale in the Vees team store in the coming weeks.

Tickets for the opening game are now available in person at the SOEC box office or online here. Match eatery is the opening night sponsor and offers a game-day special of a burger and beer for $15, which will be available throughout the season every time the Vees play at home.
