Swedish singer-songwriter Bjorn Ulvaeus believes that ABBA's digital avatars could go even after the he and his bandmates are gone.
Bjorn and the three other members of the Dancing Queen band - Agnetha Faltskog, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad - have all been turned into digital "Abbatars" for their upcoming ABBA Voyage run.
Speaking at the launch of his Credits Due campaign - which aims to solve royalties issues - earlier this week, Ulvaeus told reporters that these digital copies could perform indefinitely.
"Abbatars never tire. They can do 10 shows a day. No private jets. No riders. No worries about voices," he said.
The Thank You For The Music hitmakers worked with an 850-strong team from Industrial Light & Magic - the company founded by George Lucas - to create digital versions of themselves for the concert, using months of motion-capture and performance techniques.
The Voyage concert experience will open on May 27, 2022, at the ABBA Arena, which is a state-of-the-art 3,000 capacity arena located at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London.
Voyage, the band's first new studio album in 40 years, will be released on Nov. 5.
