BC announces 759 new coronavirus cases; 233 in Interior Health

759 new cases, 10 deaths

The provincial government has announced 759 new coronavirus cases, including 233 in the Interior Health region.

The new cases bring B.C.’s total since the pandemic began to 180,937, although 5,458 remain active. Of the active cases, 324 individuals are in hospital and 157 are in intensive care.

In the Interior Health region there are 1,223 active cases, where 53 people are hospitalized, 49 of whom are in intensive care.

In the past 24 hours, 10 new deaths have been reported, for an overall total of 1,910. None occurred within Interior Health

As of Wednesday, 87.1% of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 79.7% received their second dose.

The new/active cases include:

  • 214 new cases in Fraser Health — Total active cases: 1,734
  • 101 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health — Total active cases: 877
  • 233 new cases in Interior Health — Total active cases: 1,223
  • 129 new cases in Northern Health — Total active cases: 943
  • 79 new cases in Island Health — Total active cases: 636

Data on vaccination status of cases and hospitalizations was not released Wednesday.
