After 43 years of business, Kelowna’s Gospel Mission Thrift Store is expanding to West Kelowna.

West Kelowna Mayor Gord Milsom, Councillor Jason Friesen, store Manager Shannon Coulter, Assistant Manager Nicolette Roether, and Kelowna’s Gospel Mission’s Executive Director Carmen Rempel will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, Sep. 11th at 10 a.m. to kick off the opening.

The community is also invited to take part in the opening ceremony and enjoy some treats at 1747 Ross Road, West Kelowna. Staff will also come dressed in decades-themed costumes, all from donated items.

“We are committed to helping people in the Okanagan Valley who are experiencing homelessness and poverty. Our store will not only help us raise funds for these important programs but give people living on the Westside an opportunity to participate by volunteering, donating, and purchasing quality items at affordable prices," said Shannon Coulter, manager of both Kelowna’s Gospel Mission’s Thrift Stores.

The expansion will be filling several needs, creating volunteer opportunities, fostering community and purpose, and providing hope to those who are restarting their lives by making goods more accessible. All proceeds go back into their life-saving programs, such as shelter, meals, outreach, wellness plans and dental care.

Kelowna’s Gospel Mission Thrift Stores will accept gently used donations of furniture, large and small appliances, mattresses and box springs, clothing, household items, décor, and linens.
