Vehicle fire extinguished quickly, Kamloops Fire Rescue says

Bus fire put out quickly

Kamloops Fire Rescue quickly knocked down a fire that started on a bus Sunday afternoon.

According to KFR Captain Sandy Shepherd, fire crews received a call about 2 p.m. reporting a small bus on fire along Ord Road, near the Kamloops BMX park.

“When we arrived, the bus was just starting to get fully involved from the back end into the cabin space. Crews knocked it down quick,” Shepherd said.

Shepherd said the driver was the only person on board the bus when the fire broke out.

A resident of a nearby trailer park said he saw the bus pull over into the BMX park driveway, where the vehicle fire sent up a column of black smoke.

According to Shepherd, the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
