Blake Shelton is considering releasing the song he wrote for his new wife, Gwen Stefani, as his marriage vows, because he's very proud of the tune.
The couple wed at the beginning of the month, and Shelton broke with tradition by turning his vows into a song he dedicated to his bride.
"I don't know what or when we're going to do something with it, but it's something I wanted to have a recording of no matter what," he tells SiriusXM radio DJ Storme Warren. "I think it's something I want to share because I'm really proud of it.
"To me, a marriage, a ceremony, is... you're not keeping it private when you get married to somebody... That's why we wear these rings, you know? And I feel that way about the song. It is, for me, something that I want people to hear and know, because I'm proud to be married to Gwen, and so I'm proud of that song."
Reports suggest the track is titled Reach the Star, and when Shelton performed it at the wedding ceremony, everyone was moved to tears.
Blake reveals he struggled to complete the tune and called in songwriter pal Craig Wiseman for a little help.
"He really helped me, because when it comes to structuring something that I feel like, can stand the test of time, that's what Craig is great at," Shelton adds. "I wanted it to be something like that, and so he really helped me get something I feel like I wouldn't be embarrassed about."
Meanwhile, Blake reveals his bride had a hard time getting through her wedding vows without crying.
"Gwen, right up until the night before, she was like, 'Oh my God, let's just have the 'repeat after me' stuff'... And (officiant) Carson (Daly) was adamant about, 'No! Look, you're a songwriter, you can do this'. And so, right up until the night before, she was working on hers and it was incredible.
"I still haven't even seen a video of our wedding yet, so I can't remember all the things she said, but she had them written down and she had a hard time getting through them."
