ZZ Top have vowed to keep rocking following the death of Dusty Hill.
The bassist died on Wednesday, five days after missing his first show with his bandmates in 50 years, and now Billy Gibbons has confirmed the band will continue, because it's what Hill wanted.
According to radio host Eddie Trunk, who hosts the Trunk Nation show on SiriusXM, Gibbons texted him to say the band isn't planning on stopping anytime soon.
His text read: "As Dusty said upon his departure, 'Let the show go on!' And... with respect, we'll do well to get beyond this and honour his wishes.
"Dusty emphatically grabbed my arm and said, 'Give Elwood the bottom end and take it to the Top'. He meant it, amigo. He really did."
Longtime guitar technician Elwood Francis replaced Hill at a ZZ Top show in Illinois on Friday (23Jul21), and he's expected to fill his spot in the band permanently.
The band canceled a show in Simpsonville, South Carolina, on Wednesday night to honour Hill, but Gibbons and company are expected to resume their tour in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Friday.
