Over $50K raised for Kelowna CMHA by 9th Run for Women

$54K for Kelowna's CMHA

The 9th annual Run for Women raised more than $3.5 million in support of women’s mental health, including $53,846 for the Canadian Mental Health Association Kelowna.

The event, held virtually for the second year in a row, brought together over 25,000 participants from across Canada who completed their own 5K or 10K walk or run over eight days. Every dollar raised by the event goes to help mothers, daughters, and friends in the community to take the next step to recovery.

Participants in the Kelowna area walked and ran in support of Canadian Mental Health Association Kelowna, which generated a lot of support.

“The Run for Women is so important to our organization, not only in terms of the funds raised but also the outpouring of support we see every year from event participants and the community overall,” said Shelagh Turner, CEO, CMHA Kelowna.

One-in-three women are affected by mental health disorders like depression and anxiety, and during the pandemic women have been disproportionately impacted by mental health.

“We are grateful for the LOVE YOU by Shoppers Drug Mart program for their ongoing and enthusiastic support of the Run. The impact of this event is invaluable to our mental health programs that support and empower women so they can better manage their mental health.”
