Downtown Penticton Association market cancelled

Downtown market cancels

The Downtown Penticton Association community market has been cancelled for the second year running.

It had been slated to run from Aug. 7 to Sept. 25 in a shortened version as COVID-19 restrictions lift.

"With very late approval for us to operate a 'walk-through event' as per the Provincial government, we could not pull together this year's market. Many of our amazing vendors had commitments in place and would not be able to join us downtown this year," reads an open letter from DPA executive director Lynn Allin.

"Typically, it does take a few months of preparation to host a very large outdoor event, and with only a few weeks, we, unfortunately, were not able to seek enough vendors join in with us this summer."

Allin said the the board of directors is "disappointed," and are looking forward to the 2022 market which will run from May to September next year.
