CSRD emergency staff monitoring Three Valley Lake fire for rockfall

3 Valley fire: video update

Emergency officials are closely watching the Three Valley Lake fire for potential rock fall to the Three Valley Gap Chateau.

In a video update on the wildfire posted Friday by the Columbia Shuswap Regional District, public information officer Tracy Hughes and emergency operations director Derek Sutherland say the fire is moving along the cliff top side above the chateau, raising concern it may move behind the chateau and dislodge rock, raising the danger below.

"We are monitoring it closely," Sutherland said.

Meanwhile, the BC Wildfire Service is reporting no change in the fire at 60 hectares.

The wildfire service is monitoring the fire, and the area has been evacuated.

CP Rail had aerial resources protecting its line through the area this week.
