Elton John sets road retirement for 2023

Elton to retire from touring

Elton John will officially bow out of touring in 2023 after lining up the final shows for his farewell trek.

The Rocket Man hitmaker was forced to halt his retirement plans last year amid the COVID-19 crisis, which forced him to delay shows across North America, the U.K. and Europe, and Australia and New Zealand.

Now, Elton has laid out the new schedule for his final gigs, which will resume in Frankfurt, Germany, in May 2022.

He will then make stops in cities including Milan, Italy, and Paris, France, before staging shows across the U.K.

Fans in the U.S. and Canada will get to catch Elton live in concert for the last time from July, 2022, with that leg concluding with a pair of performances at Los Angeles' Dodger Stadium in November, to commemorate his iconic set at the same venue back in October, 1975.

Elton John Farewell Yellow Brick Road: The Final Tour, which began in 2018, will then wrap up in New Zealand and Australia in 2023.

In a statement, the singer shared: "I'm going to go out in the biggest possible way, performing at my very best, with the most spectacular production I've ever had, playing in places that have meant so much to me throughout my career.

"Whether it's next summer in Frankfurt or at the legendary Dodger Stadium for the grand finale in the United States, I can't wait to see you all on the road one last time."

"This has been an incredible tour so far, full of the most amazing highs, and I look forward to making more wonderful memories with you at these final shows," he continued.

"To all my friends Down Under, we'll be seeing you too. Thank you and I look forward to seeing you in your town."
