Highway 5A reopens overnight after incident south of Kamloops

Hwy 5A incident cleared

UPDATE: 6:15 a.m.

DriveBC reports the incident on Highway 5A was cleared as of about 11 p.m.

UPDATE 8:10 P.M.

A detour is in effect via Highway 5 Coquihalla. Southbound traffic control at Knutsford Brake Check and northbound traffic control in Merritt. Next update scheduled Wed Jun 23 at 9 p.m.

UPDATE 7:10 P.M.

Traffic control has been set up at Knutsford Brake Check and motorists are being turned around. As well,

Traffic control is set up in Merrit for northbound drivers.

The next update is expected at 9 p.m.

ORIGINAL: 6:30 p.m.

Highway 5A is closed south of Kamloops.

The route is shut 3.5 kilometres south of Roche Lake Rd (17 km south of Kamloops) due to a vehicle incident.

DriveBC doesn't have an estimated time of reopening, and no detour is available. The next update is scheduled for Wed Jun 23 at 7 p.m.
