Kelowna firefighters extinguish balcony fire at Enterprise Way commercial complex

Enterprise fire doused

UPDATE: 6:14 a.m.

The Kelowna Fire Department says a fire Tuesday night on Enterprise Way was not suspicious in nature.

About 9:15 p.m., multiple 911 calls reported the fire at 1912 Enterprise Way.

Crews arrived to find dark smoke on the third floor of the complex, says Platoon Capt. Steve Roshinsky.

Firefighters entered the building and gained access to a third-floor balcony on the west end, where they aggressively attacked the fire, containing it to the balcony and exterior wall.

Damage to the balcony floor was extensive, says Roshinsky.

"Due to the time of the fire, there were very few people in the building, and all were able to evacuate safely," he says.

The Kelowna Fire Department responded with four Engines, a rescue truck, two ladder trucks, a command unit, and 21 personnel.

RCMP, paramedics and FortisBC crews were also on scene to assist.
