Toronto Police are asking for people in Calgary and Kelowna to be on the lookout for a man wanted for murder.
Hassan Ali, 22, is being hunted by police in connection with the January 2021 Toronto murder of Hashim Omar Hashi. He has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and three counts of failing to comply with recognizance.
Police say the incident happened just before 9 p.m. on Jan. 31, after the Toronto Police Service responded to reports of gunfire in the Jane Street and Falstaff Avenue area in Toronto.
CTV News Toronto is reporting that Hashi was shot while attempting to park his vehicle in an apartment garage, where he was found unresponsive suffering from numerous gunshot wounds and pronounced deceased on the scene.
Ali is also a rapper who goes by the stage name, Top5.
Toronto Police believe Ali has travelled to Western Canada, and could be headed for Kelowna.
“Investigators believe he has travelled to Kelowna and Calgary and are urging anyone with information to contact police,” TPS said. “No matter how insignificant the information may seem, all tips are important and could be key to the investigation.”
Toronto Police believe Ali is potentially violent and dangerous and ask that anyone who locates him call 911 immediately, and not approach him.
