TRU men's soccer team adds recruit from Lower Mainland expected to pack offensive punch

TRU inks soccer scorer

The Thompson Rivers University men's soccer team has added offence to its roster.

Izett is coming from the Vancouver Whitecaps Residency Program and TRU said he “brings strength in leading a forceful offence.”

The new recruit grew up in North Delta. Since graduating high school, Izett played for teams in New Zealand and Australia, as well as with Columbus FC.

The new offence will start on the field in the fall, and John Antulov, TRU Men’s soccer coach said the team is very luck to add Izett’s skills to the team.

“He will be a big part of our offence and we hope will cause a lot of problems for other teams with his ability to take players on, his vision, passing range and ability to put the ball in the back of the net.” Antulov said.

Izett said the TRU coach has been very supportive and says he has watched TRU’s program grow since the WolfPack was inducted into U Sports.

“I’m very much looking forward to joining not only a great academic institution but a program that takes pride in giving back to the community,” Izett explained.

“Of course, our team goal is to win a national championship but personally, I would just like to enjoy my football and contribute in any way I can, on or off the field while continuing to grow as a student and athlete.”

TRU said the athlete is grateful to join the 'Pack, and excited to start playing.

“I can’t wait to get started and meet the lads as well as the rest of the staff. The future is very exciting for TRU, and I am really looking forward to what’s to come.” Izett said.
