Cache Creek fire being held

A wildfire being held near Cache Creek has been updated to 4.5 hectares in size, according to the BC Wildfire Service.

Fire Information Officer Taylor MacDonald said the size of the blaze — estimated to be about two hectares on Tuesday — has changed due to more accurate mapping techniques used by crews.

The blaze is located along Highway 97 near Pioneer Creek, 11 kilometres northwest of Cache Creek.

As of Wednesday, MacDonald said there are 14 BC Wildfire Service personnel on site.

MacDonald said the status of the fire is currently being held, meaning the fire isn’t expected to spread beyond its boundaries under current conditions.

According to BC Wildfire Service, there are no structures currently threatened by the fire.
