Rolling car show to drive through North Shore neighbourhoods, seniors' residences

Car show for North Shore

A rolling car show is planned for Kamloops' North Shore, with organizer Ron Popove encouraging community members along the route to come out and enjoy the vehicles driving by.

On June 16, vehicles of all makes and models will cruise by several neighbourhoods, retirement homes and assisted living communities in the area.

Popove, who also organizes Kamloops’ Hot Nite in the City event, said the rolling car show will begin at The Hamlets at Westsyde, an assisted living facility, at 6 p.m.

After passing by the facility, cars will turn onto Westsyde Road to Eighth Street, continuing on Ord Road before turning on Singh Street.

The tour will go down Parkcrest Avenue, left on Windbreak Street, and on to Tranquille Road before driving past Brocklehurst Gemstone Care Centre and RiverBend Seniors Community.

Vehicles will drive up Southill Street, to the Overlander Residential long term care, Interior Health’s South Hills facility, and then down Desmond Street to Ridgeview Lodge.

Cars will navigate their way to Lethbridge Avenue, heading down Ninth Street before driving past The Shores Retirement Residence.

Finally, the rolling car show will go south on Fortune Drive, turning on Wood Street and then McGowan Avenue before driving by Pine Grove Care Centre.

The show will finish at the A&W located on Fortune and Eighth.

Popove organized a rolling car show on June 1, which passed by neighbourhoods and seniors’ residences on Kamloops’ south shore.

The colourful variety of vehicles were well received by residents at the care homes, according to facility staff.

Popove said a third drive is planned for June 30.
