I know airplane travellers are not popular right now, but nevertheless there is a lot of people in this province that need to travel for emergencies as well as work.
A quick look at Westjet's pricing for flights will show that the west with Kelowna leading the pack pays a significant amount more to fly from Kelowna to Calgary (and back) than any other area to or from Calgary.
They are using their western flights to heavily subsidize their eastern counterpoints as I know many people flying from Calgary to Toronto and farther on empty planes averaging nearly 50% less costs.
Maybe Westjet should be called Eastjet because they only know how to take advantage of people that need to travel.
I for one will be actively looking for other carriers to fly with as soon as possible.
