Woman's freakout inside moving car over spider prompts calls to police

Spider freakout draws police

A woman’s freakout over a spider while in a moving vehicle drew a police response in Surrey, B.C. over the weekend.

RCMP received calls from concerned members of the public after observing a woman in distress inside a newer model white Toyota RAV4 at around 4:30 p.m. in the area of 141 St and 61 Ave.

Investigators tracked down the man and woman who were driving the SUV and confirmed there was no criminal activity involved.

“This incident was in fact, caused by a spider. The spider made a surprise appearance in the car causing a bit of a scramble and led to the woman to cry out for help,” said Sgt. Elenore Sturko.

“The woman then opened her door while the vehicle was in motion in an attempt to shoo the spider out. Needless to say, neither of these people had intended to cause any alarm to the public.”
