BC Parks online reservation site tested by heavy traffic Monday morning

Camping booking site slow

B.C.’s reservation system for provincial campsites was moving slowly Monday morning as residents rushed to book camping trips.

The online system went online at 7 a.m., accepting bookings for two months in advance.

British Columbia residents will have priority access to the camp sites this summer, with reservations opening for those outside of the province on July 8.

Castanet News received complaints Monday about delays in booking and certain sites not being available as expected. Some readers received notices that the site was receiving a high-volume of visitors, forcing them to refresh the site after a minute.

The problems, however, were nowhere near as bad as last year when the Discover Camping portal totally crashed under heavy traffic.

By later Monday afternoon the website was also working more reliably.
