Fundraiser launched for Quesnel boy seriously injured in snowmobile accident

In coma after sled accident

A fundraiser has been launched to assist a young Quesnel boy and his family after a snowmobile accident last month.

Organizer Curtis Burbee says in a post on the GoFundMe page Drake Godlonton suffered major trauma to his face as a result of the Feb. 27 incident.

He had to be transported to Children's Hospital in Vancouver, where he is intubated and in a medically-induced coma.

More than $20,000 has been raised, surpassing an initial goal of $10,000, with the money set to help cover expenses during Drake's surgery and recovery.

"Drakes injuries to his face are quite extensive," the fundraising page reads. "As of posting this on March 1, 2021, all of his vitals are stable right now."

The family doesn't believe Drake suffered any injuries to his spine or brain, however, they are awaiting an MRI of his back, neck and brain.

If the test comes back clear, doctors currently plan to perform reconstructive surgery on Drake's face this Friday.

"The teams of specialists and all the staff at the hospital have been great and we believe Drake is in good hands," Burbee writes.
