Gas poured on tent

A man has been arrested after someone poured gasoline on an occupied tent in a Victoria park and threatened to set it on fire with a blow torch.

A woman and her dog were in the tent at the time, but neither was hurt.

Victoria Police were called to Cecelia Ravine Park about 8:30 a.m. Monday and located a suspect. He was arrested for assault with a weapon, mischief and uttering threats, and was taken to police cells pending a court appearance.

About 6:30 a.m., the same man had been struck with a bat that had spikes on it. He was taken to hospital. After being released, he returned to the park.
