Sun Peaks Heath Centre has announced a positive COVID-19 case in the mountain resort.

An employee of the Sun Peaks Pharmacy was identified Thursday as the positive case, with the assumption that the individual was likely positive about a week earlier.

Dr. Shane Barclay announced that the pharmacy will be closed as of Thursday, and will remain closed until a deep clean can be conducted, likely until Monday.

“We suspect the likelihood of transmission from the pharmacy to the general public is small due to the protocols they have in place,” Barclay said in a press release.

He does urge anyone experiencing symptoms to head to a COVID testing centre in either Sun Peaks or Kamloops.

“As always, I appreciate your assistance in containing and maintaining this virus,” the doctor said.
