A new online tool is available for BC motorists to see how much they will save on car insurance

Calculate your ICBC rates

Ten minutes could save you 20 per cent or more on your car insurance.

That's how long it should take you to determine how much you will save on ICBC rates with a new online tool unveiled Tuesday morning.

The estimator will also show how much they could get in a refund from ICBC.

Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth says Enhanced Care, which comes into effect May 1, will save motorists who purchase basic and optional coverage from ICBC, an average of 20 per cent.

He says that will work out, on average, to $400 per person.

"Refund amount depends in part on your renewal date and how much of your current policy falls after May 1 when enhanced care comes into effect," said Farnworth.

"Refunds will be issued between May and July after enhanced coverage comes into effect."

The estimator, which went live this morning, is able to handle up to 1,000 users at any one time. Users will need their drivers license and plate number to access their savings.
