A 43-year-old man has been arrested, and charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of Heather Barker in 2018.
In a news release late Monday afternoon, RCMP say Shaun Ross Wiebe was arrested Friday and formally charged in Barker's death. He was also charged with assault causing bodily harm for a previous incident a month earlier.
Wiebe spent the weekend in custody, and is expected to appear in a Vernon courtroom Tuesday.
On March 15, 2018, police say Barker was brought into hospital suffering from life-threatening injuries.
The extent of those injuries have never been released.
She had been found, unresponsive, in her Cordon Place home near the Rise Golf Course earlier that day. She later died in hospital.
RCMP at the time considered her death suspicious, and say a "comprehensive and exhaustive investigation into her death" was conducted, culminating in last Friday's arrest.
Police say they are continuing to offer support to the victim's family.
