Four Kamloops schools report COVID-19 exposures last week, district says

COVID in four schools

Four Kamloops schools had COVID-19 exposures last week, according to School District 73.

In an email sent to district parents on Monday, Supt. Terry Sullivan said exposures were reported at Sa-Hali secondary, Valleyview secondary, Summit elementary and Marion Schilling elementary.

“The school community members affected are self-isolating at home with support from local public health teams,” Sullivan said in the email.

“We are thinking about them and their families as they recover.”

Exposures at Sa-Hali were reported for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday last week. At Valleyview, an exposure was reported for Wednesday.

At Summit, exposures were reported for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Marion Schilling exposure was for Thursday.

“Each school has had enhanced cleaning,” Sullivan said.

“I understand parents, staff and students are feeling concerned. We must all continue to do all that we can to keep each other safe. We will come through this challenge if we stay the course.”

In the event of exposures, Sullivan said all parents and staff at affected schools will be notified immediately.
