Police dismantling mobile 'clandestine drug lab' found in abandoned moving truck in Ashcroft

Mobile drug lab dismantled

Specially trained RCMP investigators are dismantling an alleged mobile drug lab uncovered this week inside a moving truck found abandoned in Ashcroft.

Mounties were called on Tuesday to take a look at a suspicious 20-foot rental truck abandoned outside an Ashcroft motel.

“As a result of continued investigation into the circumstances surrounding the towed rental vehicle, RCMP carried out a further search of that vehicle,” RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said in a news release.

“Upon closer examination, police discovered items believed consistent with the production of illicit drugs.”

Ashcroft Mounties called in a specialized federal RCMP unit trained to deal with clandestine drug labs.

O’Donaghey said police are asking members of the public to stay away from the parking lot where the investigation is playing out.
