Landslides and washouts close roads in Quesnel area

Slides, washouts close roads

Several landslides and washouts are affecting roads in the Central Interior.

DriveBC reports a landslide on Soda-Creek Macalister Road, north of Williams Lake.

The slide has closed the road in both directions 10 kilometres from the Junction of Highway 97.

The same road was closed last summer after a major landslide undermined the route.

West Fraser Road is also closed due to a washout at Narcosli Creek, 20 km south of Quesnel.

A detour is in effect, and there is no estimated time of reopening.

Kersley-Dale Landing Road is also closed due to a landslide, 500 metres from the Highway 97 Intersection, south of Quesnel.

A geotechnical investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, a washout has closed Quesnel Hydraulic Road at the 20 km mark due to ongoing land instability.

A detour is available.
