New interim CEO named for BCLC, set to take reins of Crown corporation on Friday

BCLC names new CEO

As of Friday, BCLC will have a new president and CEO.

Lynda Cavanaugh will take over the position as the interim head of the Kamloops-based Crown corporation, while Jim Lightbody continues his medical leave undergoing cancer treatment and recovery.

Greg Moore, who was serving as interim president and CEO, gave his resignation in November 2020. His last day with the BCLC will be Jan. 22. He is pursuing a job in the private sector.

Cavanaugh has worked extensively in public service in B.C. and she has experience leading and managing organizations which provide services in communities across the province. She is experienced in leadership, finance, technology, infrastructure and policy, BCLC said in a news release.

Cavanaugh was the assistant deputy minister in the Ministries of Attorney General and Public Safety and Solicitor General from 2011 to 2020.

Due to COVID-19 as well as the temporary position, Cavanaugh will be working from her home in Sidney and, when safe, she is expected to split time between BCLC's offices in Kamloops and Vancouver.
