Penticton Herald building sees break-in; suspect arrested

Break-in at Herald building

The Penticton Herald building experienced a break-in last week, and police have arrested a suspect.

In the early morning hours of Friday, Jan. 15, police were alerted by a security firm to a broken window at the Penticton Herald building, located at 186 Nanaimo Avenue West.

On the ground nearby, several laptop computers were piled outside. Security staff reported the suspect was standing near the window with a blanket covering his face.

When police arrived, they found the suspect carrying several items, which he then dropped and attempted to flee.

Officers found him nearby hiding under a vehicle.

The suspect, 27-year-old Wade River Morin, was taken into custody on one count of break and enter and will appear in court this week.
