Needles ferry reopens after a 'vehicle incident' closed it earlier

Needles ferry reopens

UPDATE: 9:30 a.m.

The Needles Ferry is back up and running after a vehicle incident forced it's closure early Saturday morning.

It remains unclear what caused the closure.

ORIGINAL: 7:05 a.m.

The Needles ferry east of Vernon is out of service Saturday morning due to a "vehicle incident."

Just after 5 a.m., DriveBC reported the ferry that connects Fauqier and Needles on Highway 6, across Upper Arrow Lake, is out of service Saturday morning.

The details around the closure are unclear, but DriveBC says it was caused by a vehicle incident, rather than a mechanical issue.

Castanet will provide more information as it becomes available.
