One Revelstoke resident can't understand the influx of Alberta plates

Counting plates in Revy

The small town of Revelstoke is at the centre of COVID-19 concern as a cluster of cases there jumps to 46.

During his address to the media Wednesday afternoon,  Premier John Horgan reiterated, “if you don't need to travel, you shouldn't be travelling.”

This after the mayor of Revelstoke spoke out about disturbing social media posts seeking people with COVID-19 to come and infect a willing family.

At least one Revelstoke resident reached out to Castanet to let us know she's fed up.

"I just don't get it."

Trish didn't want us to use her full name, but she can't understand why people are still travelling for recreation. Trish says she has seen numerous examples of vehicles with Alberta licence plates in Revelstoke lately.

"You drive by the hotels around town on the weekend and I myself counted nine sledder trucks at one of the hotels with Alberta plates."

Horgan addressed the issue Wednesday as well, "the Revelstoke example is people travelling unnecessarily for recreation, that's not acceptable.”

Trish says, "I drove up to the ski hill and there were all sorts of Alberta plates up there."

Earlier this summer there was a rash of incidents involving a backlash against people driving vehicles with U.S. and out-of-province licence plates.
