Sunset snap of shinny players on frozen pond a moment of pure Canadiana

How Canadian can you get?

How Canadian can you get?

Calina Crevier captured this quintessential moment of Canadiana while out for a run in Coldstream's Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park, Tuesday evening.

Crevier stopped to take in the action for a moment as three young men played shinny hockey on a frozen pond.

There may not be much – if any – snow on the ground, but recent sub-zero overnight temperatures have been enough to freeze shallow ponds.

Making the moment all the more picturesque was cloudless pink sunset in the background.

After more clear skies today, there's a chance of snow on Thursday, and temperatures should continue to hover around the freezing mark right through the weekend, making for more potential hockey moments.

But be careful on the ice – it's nowhere near cold enough yet to freeze the big lakes or deeper ponds at low elevations for safe skating.
