Police investigating double fatal crash on Hwy 1 near Savona

Two dead in fatal crash

A collision claimed two lives yesterday evening on Highway 1 west of Kamloops near Savona.

On Thursday at 5:08 p.m., RCMP and emergency crews were called to a head-on collision on the Trans Canada near the intersection of Deadman Vidette Road.
 
Police say a westbound red Ford Fiesta suddenly crossed the centre line of the intersection and collided head on with an eastbound red Dodge Journey.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta passed away at the scene. He was an 84-year-old man from the Thompson area.

The man and woman in the Dodge Journey, residents of the central interior Thompson area, were rushed to hospital in serious condition.

The female passenger in the Dodge Journey later succumbed to her injuries; she was 77. The 83-year-old male driver is still in hospital in serious condition.
