DriveBC estimates the Trans-Canada Highway will reopen near Savona at 11 p.m. Thursday night.
A two-vehicle crash near Deadman-Vidette Road left one person dead at about 5 p.m. Thursday, closing the highway.
UPDATE: 8:50 p.m.
The Trans-Canada Highway remains closed Thursday night, following a fatal crash west of Kamloops near Savona.
The crash, near Deadman-Vidette Road occurred just after 5 p.m.
DriveBC says crews are on scene assessing the crash scene, but there is currently no estimated time of reopening.
ORIGINAL: 6:10 p.m.
One person is dead after a fatal crash on Highway 1 west of Kamloops near Savona.
Emergency crews were called to the two-vehicle crash at 5:08 p.m. at the Deadman Vidette Intersection.
Kamloops RCMP say one occupant was declared deceased at the scene.
“Highway will be closed in both directions for an unknown length of time.” said S/Sgt Edward Preto.
Police are not releasing any additional details at this time.
