City releases autumn activity guide with pandemic modifications

Fall programs modified

The City of Kamloops has released its Fall Activities Guide, and several modifications have been made in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The annual activity guide still includes sports and other physical pastimes, along with cultural activities, but the city is taking into account the global health issue.

"All of our programs have been developed with safety in mind,” says city recreation supervisor Linda Stride, in a press release. “We will continue to follow the direction of the Provincial Health Officer and will modify programming as necessary to minimize the risk of COVID-19.”

Increased efforts include reduced occupancy limits on group activities, daily screenings for staff and cleaning standards.

Activities in the fall guide include fencing for beginners, an oral history workshop and barrelates (pilates and ballet).

Registration begins on Aug. 18, and the city is encouraging people to register online using the PerfectMind system.
