Police and fire officials in the Kootenays are investigating a series of fires suspected to be arsons. 

RCMP and Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue responded to a number of deliberately set fires in the  Marsh Creek Road area of Fruitvale.

Crews responded to fires on July 31 at 5:07 p.m., on August 1 at 4:45 p.m., and on August 2 at 6:26 p.m.

“Trail and Greater District RCMP is leading a criminal investigation into the suspicious fires in partnership with Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue and provincial wildfire investigators,” Sgt. Mike Wicentowich in a news release.
