Knife-wielding man arrested in Superstore parking lot

Cops arrest man with knife

Kelowna RCMP arrested a man in the parking lot of the Kelowna Superstore Tuesday after he allegedly acted aggressively with a weapon.

At about 6 p.m. on August 4, RCMP officers flooded the area in the 2200-block of Baron Road after receiving complaints of a man with a knife in the parking lot.

Officers located and arrested the suspect without incident.

“Investigation showed that the suspect had approached another man and allegedly assaulted him,” says Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy of the Kelowna RCMP. “Fortunately, the knife was not used in the assault and the victim did not suffer significant injuries as a result of the incident.”

A 29-year-old Kelowna man has been released on strict conditions, pending a future court date. This incident will be reviewed by the BC Prosecution Service.

As the investigation is ongoing, RCMP are looking to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident.

Anyone with any information about this crime can contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
