Vernon highland dance studio hosting 24-hour dance marathon for charity

24-hour Dance-a-thon

A local highland dance studio will be moving their feet for charity this month.

Vernon's Aviemore School of Highland Dance will be participating in a 24-hour Dance-a-thon, which is hosted through their parent committee ScotDance Canada. The fundraiser is nationwide and aims to raise $30,000 for Food Banks Canada and Kids Help Phone.

"Highland dancers, parents, teachers and others in our Highland dance community will be seeking donors to help us raise funds," says Cheryl Rosborough, Director of Aviemore School of Highland Dance. "Dance videos will be viewable on our dedicated online donation site for all to watch on August 15."

Each province will be competing against each other to see who can raise the most money. The dance-a-thon will begin at midnight on August 15 and end at 11:59 p.m.

"We are looking to locals and businesses in our community that have fared well through the pandemic and are able to give back," says Rosborough.

The donation site (scotdance.vidflex.tv) will go live at midnight on the 15th. For more information, you can visit the ScotDance Canada Facebook page.
